The Separett Privy 501 Urine Diverting Toilet Kit convert your existing outhouse or latrine into a urine diverting system.
The 501 includes a molded folding toilet seat! By separating urine from solids, the Privy 501 kit greatly reduces the odor and decomposition periods.
The units installs below the current latrine platform and the attached urine hose diverts fluids from the current holding location. The insulated seat and cover assure a good seal over the unit when not in use, and a seat that warms with your body contact.
The urine which stands for almost 80% of waste is easily taken care of by leading the Privy 501 to an container or the ejector tank for easy disposal. The dry waste is collected in a container of your choosing and later disposed of in a compost or any other approved container for solid toilet waste.
How to Use it: Sit down while using the Privy 501 and only dispose of ordinary toilet waste and paper in the container.
Longtime storage: The Privy 501 can be used all year round. It is not affected by heat or code. If you do leave the cottage for a longer period of time Separett recommends that you empty the solid waste container and container for urine (depending on type of installation) and clean the seat and insert from leaving.

At https://separett.shop/products/privy-501 they ask $159.00 for the Privy 501 Regular Seat Blue bowl. From Shop Tiny House I paid $225.00 for the same Privy 501 - which included shipping. The price difference is stunning. Wish I would have done more research/price comparisons.

We have tried a lot of urine diverting options since we began using a composting toilet and this is by far the best diverter! There is no mess and no fuss, you just go and you're done! :p if there could be 1 critique, I would suggest a stronger plastic for the seat or creating a frame around the toilet seat to make it easier to build a more supportive frame for I to sit on. Even that being said, it is affordable and does everything we need it to and made a frame that works.
